$4300 For Sex

March 12, 2008
Spitzer apparently paid $4300 per hour? Or was it per two hours, to have sex with a call girl. (Or whatever it was he was paying for).

I just want to go public here and say Midnight Ink paid me a $1500 advance for The Devil's Pitchfork.

Now there's a blurb: "The Devil's Pitchfork isn't worth an hour's time with a New York prostitute."

Cheers,
Mark Terry

Best, from a fiction point of view, not to calculate your hourly wages. I even read once where Jonathan Kellerman noted that his advance for "When The Bough Breaks" was something like 77 cents an hour. (And the publishers put off publishing it for a couple years because they were afraid of the subject matter. Which just goes to show, nobody really knows what will sell or why).

I actually know my approximate hour count for writing my second novel. If it ever gets published, I'll be able to calculate my hourly. Yay?
